Senior Data Engineer
ArdoqAbout the role
Senior Data Engineer
Building the data foundation that turns enterprise complexity into connected intelligence.
The Ardoq Story
Ardoq is one of Norway's most exciting scale-ups - a truly global company built out of Oslo. We are the AI-powered Enterprise Architecture platform that helps organizations understand, manage, and evolve their complex digital landscape. By providing a dynamic, collaborative digital twin of the business, we connect systems, people, and processes to drive better decision-making and accelerate digital transformation.
Today, we help some of the world's most complex organizations - including ExxonMobil and British Telecom - gain clarity in a changing world. We are backed by leading global tech investors, including EQT and One Peak, giving us the stability of a mature company with the speed and soul of a startup.
About the Role
Ardoq runs on data. The insights our customers rely on to make confident decisions are only as good as the systems behind them - and that's where you come in. As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll design and build the pipelines, models, and platforms that make analytics reliable, timely, and trustworthy across the business.
This is not a maintenance role. You'll operate across large, partially defined scopes, contributing to architectural decisions, driving down technical debt, and raising the standard of data engineering practice across the team. You'll work closely with product, engineering, and analytics colleagues to ensure data infrastructure keeps pace with Ardoq's growth.
What You'll Do
Design and implement scalable data pipelines that power analytics and business decision-making.
Improve data models, ingestion logic, and processing frameworks for performance and long-term maintainability.
Own the resolution of complex data quality and system-level issues - root cause first, fix second.
Contribute to architectural discussions and help shape the future of Ardoq's data platform.
Drive down high-complexity technical debt in a way that builds sustainable scalability.
Ensure documentation is good enough that anyone on the team can contribute, not just the person who built it.
Help onboard and mentor newer engineers, raising the team's capability alongside your own.
On a Typical Day, You Will
Review an ingestion pipeline that's behaving unexpectedly, trace it back to a schema mismatch introduced two sprints ago, and propose a fix that also hardens the system against the next edge case. In the afternoon, you'll join a cross-functional session with the analytics team to align on how a new data source should be modelled, then spend an hour improving shared documentation so the next engineer doesn't have to figure it out from scratch.
Who You Are
We're looking for someone who combines deep technical craft with the judgment to make the right call when the data is incomplete and the stakes are real.
The Experience: You have a proven track record in data engineering, ideally in a high-growth SaaS or tech environment where the systems you built needed to scale.
The Craft: You write clean, maintainable code and take genuine pride in building systems that others can rely on.
The Mindset: You're comfortable with ambiguity. When the scope isn't fully defined, you define it - and you bring colleagues with you.
The Collaborator: You work across teams with ease, translating technical complexity into clear decisions for non-engineering stakeholders.
The AI Practitioner: You've embedded AI tools into how you work - not as an experiment, but as part of
