The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
We are seeking a network engineer with deep knowledge and broad experience across network security technologies (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, etc.). This position will be working within the mission environment supporting the Artemis program.
Responsibilities
Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
- Architect, deploy, configure, and effectively manage network infrastructure.
- Define, document, and follow standards and best practices for systems design, testing, and implementation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues.
- Familiarity with Network IDS/IPS solutions.
- Understanding of effectively configuring ACLs and Network Access Control (NAC) solutions.
- Integrating network devices with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions.
- Familiarity with networking protocols and the OSI model.
Here's What You'll Need:
Qualifications – External
Bachelor’s degree in related field with at least four years IT experience or six years of IT experience.

Essential Functions
- Experience in Linux/Unix system administration.
- Familiarity with networking protocols and the OSI model.
- Strong understanding configuring, deploying, and managing switches and firewalls.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation of tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Physical Requirements
- Will be required to climb stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting.
- Climbing ladders and platforms will be necessary.
- Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.
- Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
- Must be able to work in tight confined space areas.
Work Environment
- All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.
- Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
- Position requires daily individual to travel to different areas on site.
