Scientist/Associate Scientist, R&D (Women's Health)

We are looking for an inquisitive and creative Scientist or Associate Scientist to initiate, direct and execute pre-product scientific research. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products and problem solving. The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories, with hands-on experience in next-generation DNA/RNA sequencing, nucleic acid technologies, and/or protein screening.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Contributes substantially and intellectually to research and development

Leads projects to create and develop novel nucleic acid or protein based diagnostic tests; including planning, feasibility testing, protocol development, optimization, verification, validation, and launch

Responsible for executing projects as per associated timelines and deliverables

Thoroughly comprehends the objectives and vision of the work

Develops plans, generates and advances new ideas

Performs basic data analysis, including statistics

Independently designs and executes moderate to high complexity experiments

Coordinates the execution and analysis of effective experiments with statistics and bioinformatics teams

Documents research progress under a Quality Management System

May work with partners and outside collaborators

Communicates progress directly with colleagues and senior management

Must maintain a current status on Natera training requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry or closely related field
-
Scientist - minimum of 3 to 5 years of industry experience or equivalent
- Associate Scientist - minimum of 0 to 2 years of industry experience or equivalent
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
-
Must have hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and basic molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA, multiplex PCR, hybrid capture, digital PCR

Expertise in women’s health applications in molecular diagnostics is a strong plus.

Must have experience in data analysis, statistics, data interpretation and results reporting.

Track record of originating, developing and productizing novel nucleic acid techniques and tests

Experience in developing multimomics and NGS-based assays is highly desirable.

Must have excellent communication, organizational, record-keeping, planning and time management skills

Proven success in managing collaborative and individual projects, previous experience managing research associates a plus

Demonstrated success in applying independent scientific judgment in experimental design and analysis

Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Adept with data analysis and statistical testing using Excel, JMP, R or other data analysis environments

Bioinformatics capabilities, programming (e.g. PERL, python) and database experience (SQL) are a plus
-
Skilled at writing clear plans, reports and SOPs
