This position involves working on current research projects and leading future research projects related to Developing Computational Models, Tools and Decision Support Systems Technologies for Agricultural Watershed Physical Processes, Water Quality and Ground Water Management; Developing Computational Models, Tools and Decision Support Systems Technologies for Dam-break flood modeling; Studying the impacts of land cover land use and climate changes on water quantity and quality, environmental public health and aquatic ecosystems sustainability; and/or Applying remote sensing and GIS and related spatial techniques to environmental modeling and assessment for water, air, coastal, ecological and public health applications.

Position Details

Appointment: 12 month

Assignment Type: Non-Tenure Track

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Numerical modeling for physical environmental applications such as watershed, hydrodynamic and atmospheric applications.

  • Developing surface and/or subsurface hydrologic and hydraulic models and verify/validate them using field observations and remotely-sensed data.

  • Assisting in developing computational Models, Tools and Web-based Decision Support Systems Technologies for Agricultural Watershed Physical Processes, Water Quality and Ground Water Management.

  • Assisting in Developing Computational Models, Tools and Web-based Decision Support Systems Technologies for Dam-break flood modeling.

  • Studying groundwater-surface water interactions including the effects of hyporheic flow and watershed infiltration and percolation.

  • Studying the impacts of land cover land use and climate changes on water quantity and quality, public health and aquatic ecosystems sustainability

  • Environmental data analysis, particularly in the use of satellite remote sensing data and climate and weather data assimilation for these purposes.

  • Scientific programming (e.g., FORTRAN, C++), statistical programming (e.g., R, Python, SAS), spatial analysis methods (i.e. Geographic Information Systems (GIS)) and satellite remote sensing.

  • Participating in and leading external research grant proposals.
