About the role

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversees the day-to-day administrative and business functions, as well as the academic portion of the department.
• Coordinates with the department’s leadership team including department chair, the V.P. of Oncology, and other faculty members, supervisors, and staff to ensure the goals/objectives of the department are met.
• Facilitates communication to and from the chairman, executives, and faculty.
• Acts as a liaison between the executives and subordinates or others.
• Analyzes and reports data to chair and executive management team members as required to continually assess both the financial and operational performance of the department.
• Develops the department annual budget and provides financial forecasting.
• Monitors the performance of billing/collections functions of the department and the health system.
• Manages appointments and schedules of the chairman and executives. Provides secretarial and clerical support to chairman and executive management, including typing, composing, and proofreading correspondence.
• Assists in the preparation of reports, materials, agendas, notes, and handouts.
• Communicates effectively with staff, physicians, and other departments within Marshall Health and the School of Medicine and serves as the liaison between department and external institutions/agencies.
• Handles Oncology department/SOM related tasks such as assisting with physician recruiting, preparing and distributing physician contracts and faculty appointment letters.
• Creates and delivers offer letters to physicians and staff.
• Assists in onboarding new employees and physicians.
• Works as a liaison to HR in employee and physician employment administration.
• Works with payroll department to accurately submit time, expense, bonus, check requests for reimbursements and payments.
• Works with other departments to track employment related information needed for management/executives/directors.
• Serves on various committees and performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree is minimum educational requirement. Master’s degree in business or healthcare administration or Registered Nurse degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Three to five years of experience in health care administration, health services supervision/management or other related experience.
