Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

This position is responsible for analyzing participation contracts for the purpose of initial statement set-up and subsequent preparation of participation statements on a quarterly and semi-annual basis across various cable networks, as well as providing the necessary episode, runs and revenue data to third-party residuals processing company. This individual will be a key member of the team providing support in all areas of participation and residual reporting, improving efficiency and ensuring accuracy throughout the entire reporting process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze contracts and amendments in order to identify participation provisions for initial statement creation, as well as confirm accuracy of terms for existing statements.
  • Review title level revenue, expense and production cost files for reasonableness and accuracy.
  • Prepare and issue quarterly, semi-annual and annual participation statements.
  • Support management in calculating quarterly participation and residual accruals.
  • Assist in providing the necessary participation and residual information for financial planning, budgeting and cash forecasting purposes.
  • Assist in the third-party participation audit process, gathering and reviewing supporting documentation as needed.
  • Collaborate with production, sales, finance, controller’s group, legal & labor relations on P&R matters on an as needed basis.
  • Maintain a “think outside the box” mindset and strive to continually improve the process.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred. 
  • 2+ years Accounting and/or Finance experience, preferably in the entertainment industry
  • Experience with participation reporting and contract interpretation preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, with the ability to manipulate and analyze large volumes of data
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the New York office a minimum of three days per week.
