Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office is recognized as the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services. The Office of SAMH is statutorily responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders.

Florida State Hospital (FSH) is a mental health treatment facility owned and operated by the State of Florida and is part of the Department of Children and Families. This is a highly responsible and professional position serving as a Food Support Worker within Food Services.  The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player who works seamlessly across all sections within the program office. This role requires the use of independent judgment, a proactive approach to responsibilities, and exceptional attention to detail. Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:

• This position requires lifting, pulling and squatting.
• Set up dish machine for daily tasks.
• Wash Breakfast trays and carts, lunch trays, carts, pots and pans, evening meal trays and carts.
• Disassemble and clean dish machine and dish room. Reassemble dish machine for washing breakfast, lunch and evening meal trays.
• Prepare AM, PM and HS Snacks and help support tray line.
• Wash lunch trays, carts and pots and pans.
• Attends Inservice training and meetings as assigned.
• While on duty, follows and carries out Florida State Hospital/Unit/Department safety practices and policies.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required for the position:

• Knowledge of the equipment, procedures and techniques used in cooking, baking, and/or meat cutting.
• Knowledge of the procedures for maintaining sanitary working conditions.
• Ability to perform food service functions in one or more of the following areas: cooking, baking or meat cutting.
• Ability to read and follow recipes and/or other instructions.
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• One year of food service experience; or
• Completion of a program of study from a vocational/technical school in a food service area.
