Job Description:

GDIT is in search of a highly skilled Senior Network Administrator to join our team at GDIT. In this pivotal role, you will lead and implement network infrastructure projects from inception to execution, ensuring the implementation of robust, scalable, and secure solutions that align with business objectives. Additionally, you will provide technical leadership and mentorship to project teams and federal clients.

This position is mostly remote; however, must be able to be onsite 1x a month at the customer data centers in Ashburn, VA and/or Silver Spring, MD. Travel will not be reimbursed.

Candidates must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Residence in the US 3 out of the last 5 years is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategize and define Enterprise Network Architecture, encompassing Segmentation Architecture, Software Defined Networking (SDN), and ACI Implementation
  • Design and implement network infrastructure, including addressing schemes, routing protocols, security protocols, and scalability strategies
  • Create comprehensive specifications and configurations for LAN, WAN and MAN network devices, encompassing Cisco and Juniper systems, MPLS, DHCP, and NTP appliances
  • Configure network devices according to approved architectural designs and technical requirements
  • Configure firewall (Cisco and Palo Alto) according to approved technical requirements
  • Continuously monitor network performance, promptly identifying and resolving operational issues as they arise
  • Implement robust network security measures and policies to safeguard against potential threats and vulnerabilities
  • Facilitate the seamless transition of project deliverables from implementation to operational teams, ensuring minimal disruption
  • Develop comprehensive documentation encompassing network diagrams, configuration guidelines, and operational procedures
  • Create and execute comprehensive test plans, encompassing both performance and security assessments, to validate network configurations
  • Conduct rigorous testing to ensure configurations align with prescribed design specifications and meet organizational standards
  • Respond to service requests related to maintaining the customer network environments

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in a related area (or equivalent), and 8+ years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • 8+ years of experience specializing in constructing robust and modern network solutions using Cisco and Juniper network devices, encompassing Core Network, Metro Area Network (MAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), On-Premises Data Centers, and Hybrid Cloud environments
  • Experience with Infoblox DNS and DHCP components required
  • Proficient in managing, configuring, and designing a variety of network devices, including switches, firewalls, and LAN/WAN/MAN devices
  • Thorough understanding of network protocols (BGP, IS-IS, LDP), security principles, network architecture, and best practices
  • Experience with Cisco DNAC and Aruba ClearPass
  • Experience in managing critical enterprise networks based on Linux, VMware, and Windows platforms
  • Proficiency in network automation and scripting for Automated Switching Patching and Configuration using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, and Chef is beneficial
  • Experience with Network and Security Monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nessus, Splunk, and Tenable is advantageous
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust and have resided in the US 3 out of the last 5 years

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Cisco CCIE or Equivalent Certification in Data Center and Routing and Switching is preferred
  • Experience working in Data Center environments and familiarity with Software Defined Networking (SDN), Cisco ACI, IPV6 implementation, Routing and Switching Protocol standardization, and cloud integration solutions are a plus
