The City of Ojai is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to lead our Transit Operations. As the Transit Operations Supervisor, you will oversee the daily functions of the Ojai Trolley Service, supervise transit staff, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and help provide excellent public transportation services to our community. 

This position is available for immediate hire at 30 hours per week. It is expected to transition into a full-time, fully benefited position in July 2026, pending formal approval by the City Council. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise Trolley Drivers 
• Coordinate transit schedules and route planning
• Monitor vehicle maintenance and safety standards
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations
• Respond to customer inquiries and resolve service issues
• Serve as a backup trolley driver when needed to support service continuity

Qualifications:

• Experience in transit operations or transportation management
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a California Commercial Class C driver's license with Passenger Endorsement

Deferred Compensation: City matches the greater of 3% of salary or $200/month.

Health Insurance: Access to CalPERS health plans. City pays 100% of employee and 80% of dependent premiums for full-time employees. Amount pro-rated for designated part-time employees. 

Dental & Vision Insurance: City pays 100% of employee premium. Amount pro-rated for designated part-time employees.

Disability Insurance: City paid short- and long-term disability for full-time employees only.

Life Insurance:$30,000 City paid policy with AD&D.

Holidays: 13 paid holidays annually.

Vacation: Starts at 11 days per year, with increases based on service.

JOB DESCRIPTION: TRANSIT OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR

DEFINITION

Under direction, to supervise, plan, and coordinate the activities and operations of the Transit Division within the City Manager's Department; to coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies, and the general public; and to provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to the Assistant to the City Manager.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direction from the Assistant to the City Manager or higher level professional staff within the City Manager's Office. Exercises direct supervision over Trolley Drivers.
