Description
Bryn Mawr College has an opening for a part-time Assistant Coach for Cross Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track and Field. This position works 1000 hours for 10 months per year.
Position Objectives:
- Serve as Assistant Coach for Cross Country and Track & Field
- Develop and execute programming in specific event groups
- Assist the Head Coach in all aspects of team and program development
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the development and application of all components of designated event groups for both indoor and outdoor track and well as regularly assisting cross country in the training of the distance runners.
- Responsibilities include assisting in the development of specific workouts for each athlete, possible oversight of the training at practice, as well as coaching and support of the group at competition.
DESCRIPTION OF EFFORT AND FULL-TIME EQUIVALENT:
- XC Preseason (3 weeks/14hrs per week). Contribute to the successful XC preseason and assist with all elements of hosting the Bryn Mawr Invite.
- XC In-Season (5 weeks/14 hrs per week). Contribute to the successful running of the XC season, assist with the distance coaches at practice and substitute for any missing coaches, assist with recruiting days, and begin meeting TF athletes.
- TF Preseason (3weeks/16hrs per week). Continue with the XC responsibilities, the primary focus becomes the start of the TF training season.
- TF Seasons (28weeks/25 hrs per week). Plan and execute training for primary event groups and coach event groups during competitions. Plan and maintain food and dining options for competition days. Plan and execute team building events during January return.
- TF Post Season (3wks /18 hrs per week). Assist Head Coach with any post season competition and all aspects of closing out an academic year. Plan summer training for appropriate event groups, join Head Coach in strategic planning for the upcoming year.
Full Time Equivilent: 55%
This position is Pension Benefit Eligible.
Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Candidates will have 1-3 years of coaching experience, and collegiate competing experience is preferred.
- Candidates need to demonstrate exceptional communication skills as well as the ability to balance multiple projects at the same time.
- Must have technical and tactical knowledge of cross country and/or track and field.
USATF and/or USTFCCCA Certification in appropriate event groups preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
