Security Guard - Full Time Swing Shift

The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking applicants for a Full Time Security Guard. This position is for Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. This position is manned 24/7, 365 days a year, which will require working all holidays, and occasionally filling in for weekday/weekend coverage as needed. The selected candidate will staff the Visitor Center, conduct security patrols, respond to alarms and emergencies, monitor CCTV systems, and maintain the security of the SDL campus. The candidate must be punctual and reliable, able to work alone, walk across uneven surfaces, climb stairs, and tolerate adverse weather conditions.

The Space Dynamics Laboratory, a University Affiliated Research Center, has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge DoD and intelligence programs for over six decades. Our expertise is in space and airborne IR, VIS, UV, and RF sensors, small satellite technologies, test and calibration, cybersecurity, data visualization and assurance, and ground stations.

Responsibilities include:

• Greets and assists visitors
• Checks in/out visitors and issues visitor badges
• Updates visit log daily, scans and attaches check-in form to the visit log
• Answers phones
• Monitors CCTV
• Issues parking permits
• Ensures security protocol is followed
• Conducts security patrols
• Alarm response
• Follows emergency response procedures

• Must be a US citizen
• Current Security Clearance is preferred, or must be attainable within a reasonable amount of time
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information     
• Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with a wide range of internal and external customers
• Punctual – must be on time and dependable
• Excellent customer service skills, must be professional and have a friendly demeanor
• Computer experience, Microsoft Office software, and various office equipment
• Excellent verbal, written, and professional communication skills
• Ability to work independently, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Exceptional observation and decision-making skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks
• Demonstrate organizational skills

• Ability to walk long distances in the dark, in adverse weather conditions, and climbing stairs
• Ability to work extended hours, or covering other shifts during the week/weekend as needed
