What The Role Is
This entry-level role is designed to build foundational skills in wind turbine operations and maintenance through the completion of the Job Qualification Standard program and advancement exam. Reporting to the Wind Site Lead, the Tech Trainee Level position supports the daily operations of the Alta site by assisting with basic maintenance, inspections, and operational tasks under the guidance of experienced technicians.

What You'll Be Doing
- Follow safety procedures, observe safe working practices, and maintain a safe working environment.
- Learn applicable safety, electrical, mechanical, and field knowledge and skills to become a Wind Technician.
- Complete the Job Qualification Standard program, including applicable on-the-job tasks and training.
- Assist in the performance of wind turbine mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical component maintenance.
- Assist in troubleshooting and repair of SCADA communication systems.
- Operate and maintain a service vehicle.
- Maintain hand tools in good working order and well organized.
- Must pass an advancement exam and oral board upon training program completion within six (6) months from hire.
- Work a flexible on call schedule when needed. This may include weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
- Demonstrate willingness to progress as a technician and take guidance from superiors.
- Help in all areas of site operations as directed by Site Supervisor and Site Manager with minimal supervision.
- Perform other tasks as necessary.
What You'll Bring
- A high school diploma or GED required or willing to obtain within the first 6 months of employment.
- Able to climb towers unassisted up to 300 feet. Job will require standing outside the nacelle and nosecone at the top of the turbine. Able to work safely in a confined space.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Possess demonstrable mechanical aptitude and basic electrical knowledge. Able to work with electrical wires and differentiate between color coded wires.
- Able to safely work in a wide range of adverse climates and environments.
- Able to travel as required.
- Knowledge of and the ability to use various hand tools.
- Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams is preferred.
- Able to communicate verbally and in writing and able to work without direct supervision during performance of work.
- Able to create, edit or modify Microsoft Word and Excel documents.
- Able to meet the requirements of Clearway Energy Group’s Qualified Electrical Worker program.

What Would Be Nice
- An associate’s degree (electrical or technical) preferred.
- Previous experience in SAP is preferred.

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.
