Description of Work

Reporting to the Administrative Officer III at a medium custody male correctional facility, this position serves as the primary office coordinator to the Human Resources Department in the facility's Administrative Building. Job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Performing a variety of administrative, clerical, and office support duties.

2. Utilizing knowledge of Department of Adult Correction (DAC) Policies and Procedures and facility Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in order to complete work duties and communicate information involving programs, functions, and services on personnel and others matters.

3. Preparing documents and reports and the composition of memos and letters.

4. Utilizing office technology, such as scanners, printers, computers, fax machines, and multi-line phone systems.

5. Compiling records, organizing and maintaining files, posting information, and distributing mail.

6. Greeting and assisting visitors, applicants, staff, and others upon entering the Administration Building.

7. Performing other duties as needed.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the Minimum Education and Experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/Management Preferences are not required but applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

• Documented working knowledge of word processing or spreadsheet programs.

Salary Range: $31,200 - $51,249

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business needs.

About Nash Correctional Institution

Nash Correctional Institution is a medium custody facility located in Nashville, Nash County NC. It houses approximately 654 male offenders. The facility provides offender labor to two Correction Enterprises operations located on site: the Optical Plant and the Print Plant. The Optical Plant manufactures eyeglasses for customers such as Medicaid and the Division of Services for the Blind. The Print Plant is a full-service print shop dedicated to printing services for state government agencies, public school systems, state community colleges and universities, and non-profit organizations.
