Production Supervisor (2nd Shift)

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Production Supervisor to join our established automotive packaging and kitting operation in Brownstown, MI. This role is responsible for overseeing daily production activities, leading hourly associates, ensuring safety and quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong communication skills, a solid understanding of production flow, and experience in lean manufacturing environments.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
• Plan, assign, and oversee daily production work to meet customer and operational requirements
• Coach, counsel, and discipline employees as needed to optimize performance
• Foster teamwork and cooperation within and across departments
• Lead by example to promote accountability, engagement, and productivity
Production & Process Control
• Ensure timely completion of all assigned work orders
• Monitor production flow, personnel, and equipment to maintain efficiency
• Set processing standards and implement improvements to reduce cost and waste
• Address work stoppages, equipment malfunctions, and process disruptions promptly
• Report production results and issues during daily communication meetings
Continuous Improvement & Workplace Organization
• Support and implement Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives
• Maintain clean, organized, and efficient work areas
• Study production methods and recommend improvements to processes and procedures
Safety, Compliance & Cost Control
• Maintain a safe and compliant work environment in accordance with company and federal standards
• Educate employees on proper equipment usage and safe work practices
• Identify, record, and report unsafe working conditions
• Control and minimize labor overtime and repair expenses
Data, Reporting & Systems
• Compile, analyze, and report production performance data
• Respond to internal requests for manufacturing and production information
• Utilize SAP and computer systems to support production operations
Professional Development
• Maintain up-to-date technical and professional knowledge through training, workshops, and industry best practices
Qualifications & Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
• Experience in manufacturing, packaging, or kitting environments preferred
• Demonstrated interest or experience in continuous improvement (Lean, 5S)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proven leadership, coaching, and instructional abilities
• Solid understanding of production flow and process control
• Proficiency with SAP and basic computer systems (SAP experience preferred)
