Job Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for management, oversight, identification, and evaluation of the business development opportunities and responsible for the generation of sales growth and profit enhancement necessary, over the short, medium, and long term, to meet or exceed their associated Bookings Forecast and Plan.
- This position is a Company/LOB level or Group role that oversees and manages the business development, and the marketing and sales departments
- Plan and recommend sales and marketing strategies to achieve maximum penetration consistent with Company's financial objectives; and to drive the Company's tactical and strategic growth
- Identify and implement synergy programs with the parent company
- Responsible for managing other individuals on the business development team
- Along with business leaders, establish goals to ensure achievement of market-share objective and profitability of products and services
- Overall responsibility for the Capture Planning Process and the Bid and Proposal process and budget
- Overall responsibility for the accuracy and achievement of the Company's Bookings Forecast and Plan
- Identify and recommend potential merger and acquisition candidates
- Formulate and exercise marketing plans and programs, both short and long range to ensure achievement of financial objectives, and products and services innovation
- Manage and analyze the market intelligence data to ensure market opportunities are capitalized on as they occur and minimize the effects of competitive activity
- Prepare customer and strategic presentations including the annual and strategic and discretionary spend plans
- Staff Business Development positions with appropriately skilled and competent professionals
- Conduct periodic meetings and audits to determine effectiveness of competitive efforts and degree of achievement of goals
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
- Ensure the development of individual and department plans and budgets are consistent with the strategic plan and overall budget
- Attend appropriate Corporate meetings and report in areas of responsibility as requested by Senior Management
- Perform specific and delegated duties as assigned
- For International Business Development:
- May advocate with Embassies and US government agencies on issue of importance to the company
- May maintain a strong network with the US government international defense community and understanding of US goals and objectives
- May work with VP International Business Development on operational changes, alternate strategies and procedures to accomplish international objectives
- May represent the company at events in locations throughout the world in support of international business
- May develop relationships with key business councils to understand bilateral business relationships
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or engineering or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Master’s degree preferred
- Experience working with various DoD technology labs and ground vehicle applications
- International business development experience preferred
- Knowledgeable in marketing and experience developing a competitive marketing strategy
- Knowledgeable in US Contracting, ITAR, FAR, and budgeting processes
- Demonstrated successful executive presentation skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Expert knowledge of Company products, markets, and technology
- Able to travel up to 60%
U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
