About this role
Internal Audit provides independent, value-added audit and advisory services to our stakeholders in a professional and transparent manner. The Global Technology Audit team assesses Newmont’s technology risk landscape and provides insights to strengthen Newmont’s control environment with clear and actionable outcomes for the business.
Your role will consist of
As an intern, you will be responsible for contributing to specific Internal Audit projects and supporting your department's daily activities. The exact projects will be established according to your interest, availability, skills, and experience, in addition to the specific business needs.
Possible projects include:
Support Risk Management System (RMS) based assurance and advisory projects
Support SOx IT General Control evaluations (user provisioning, change management, IT Operations, etc).
Support development and implementation of department technology.
General support to the Global Technology Audit and Audit Analytics & Innovation teams for data analysis, planning, testing, and reporting.
The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work; other work may also be assigned.
Your training, skills, and experience checklist
- Undergraduate or graduate student graduating in December 2024 or later – Strong academic credentials with a Technology, Business, or Finance related major. Experience in mining and/or passion to learn about the hard-rock mining industry preferred though not required.
- Strong organization, project, and time management skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; comfort engaging with senior leaders and global teams
- Strong research methods capability and writing skills
- The ability to learn and adapt to ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and supporting systems quickly
- At least a 3.0 GPA or equivalent
- Valid work authorization to work in the United States for this position.
- Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office suite, especially in creating and analyzing data visualizations with PowerBi and Excel.
- In addition to proficiency in Excel and PowerBi, it would be desirable if you have some experience with SQL and Alteryx, or are willing to learn them.

Working conditions and location
Summer intern positions begin in May 2024 and conclude in August 2024. The exact dates are flexible depending on each student’s availability and our business need. Our internships are full-time paid positions (40 hours/week).
This internship is based at our corporate headquarters in Denver, CO at 6900 E Layton Ave #700. It is possible some travel may be required to one or more of Newmont’s sites. There is ample opportunity for internal networking within our company.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $$23.80 (Freshman) - $43.26 (PhD). The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
