About the role

Bounteous, a leading full-service digital agency, is seeking a motivated and skilled Senior North American Leave Administrator (Contract) to join the Talent & Culture Team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our employees are fully supported during their times of need, enhancing our workplace culture through compassionate and compliant leave management. The ideal candidate will exhibit a high level of expertise in leave policy administration, a keen understanding of employment law, and a commitment to maintaining the wellbeing of our team members.
Hours: No more than 25 hours per week. Must be able to work during core CST hours.Effective Contract Dates: January 1, 2024 to March 31, 2024. We are open to contract-to-hire for the right candidate.

Role and Responsibilities

  • As a North American Leave Administrator, you will be instrumental in managing all aspects of employee leaves for our teams across the US and Canada. This role involves:
  • Overseeing the administration of all leave requests, including medical, personal, disability, and FMLA leave, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Staying abreast of state leave laws and being a subject matter expert in coordination with state leave policies, while updating internal policies.
  • Coordinating with vendors to manage leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork, including the implications of FMLA and ADA.
  • Creating & maintaining internal and employee facing leave resources.
  • Handling leave-related inquiries and educating employees on their leave entitlements and the application process.
  • Maintaining accurate leave records and ensuring that payroll reflects leave balances and statuses correctly.
  • Working closely with the Talent & Culture team to ensure that all leave policies are up to date and in line with current legislation and best practices.
  • Assisting with benefits eligibility and life-status changes as they pertain to leave statuses.
  • Developing and maintaining a communication plan to keep stakeholders informed about leave policies and any changes.
  • Working with third-party vendors, including absence management & disability vendors and state agencies, to help manage employee leaves.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in leave administration within the US and Canada.
  • Experience coordinating leaves with disability and state-specific leave payments.
  • Knowledge of employment laws related to leaves such as FMLA, ADA, and workers' compensation.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, ideally with experience in setting up leave management modules.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple leave cases concurrently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to handle sensitive situations with discretion, empathy, and professionalism.
  • The ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasks.
  • Solid time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines in a part-time capacity.
