DreamWorks Animation is seeking a software engineer who is passionate about building simple and clean user interfaces to complex systems for feature animation at the studio. Our team creates tools to be used by artists in Lighting, Look Dev, FX, CFX, and Matte Painting. This position will work closely with artists in animated film production to develop new systems and efficient workflow tools.

Job Description
“What would you say you do here?”
- Build new tools to facilitate studio specific workflows and improve pipeline efficiency
- Respond to feedback from artists to improve internal toolsets
- Work with artists to determine problem areas in the pipeline and build solutions
- Improve and maintain existing internal toolsets
Qualifications
“What do I need to have in order to do this job?”
- 1+ year of experience with industry standard DCC (Digital Content Creation) Tools (Houdini, Maya, Katana, etc)
- 1 +year Python development experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field
- Excellent debugging and problem solving skills
- Experience with object-oriented software design
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms and computer graphics
- Ability to work closely with production and engineering staff
- Attention to detail and strong communication skills
- Experience in balancing quick turnaround with long-term quality
“What can I offer?”
- 3+ year of experience with industry standard DCC Tools
- 3+ years Python development experience
- 1+ years production artist experience in relevant department (CFX, FX, Surfacing, Lighting, Matte Painting)
- 1+ years of development experience with industry standard DCC Tools
- Experience with various Python APIs (in particular those related to DCC tools)
- Experience with OpenUSD API
- Knowledgeable of digital asset creation and corresponding formats
- Expertise at building simple/clean user interfaces to complex systems
- Robust understanding of VFX/Animation pipeline and artist workflow
- C++ software development experience
- Knowledgeable of PEP8 standard
- Experience utilizing GitHub
Additional Requirements:
- Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
- Fully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence.

- Salary range: $105,000 - $145,000
