Principal Software Engineer

In this role, you will focus on designing scalable, high-performance solutions while mentoring team members and influencing the technical direction of the organization. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams but will not have direct line management responsibilities.</p><p><b>What you'll be doing</b></p><ul> <li> <strong>Code quality and best practices</strong>: Define and enforce coding standards, review code for quality, and establish best practices for software development leveraging available tech-stack and tooling, whilst encouraging thorough and consistent documentation.</li> <li> <strong>Mentorship</strong>: Mentor and guide less experienced engineers, promoting technical growth and skill development across the team.</li> <li>Manage your individual contribution by keeping a healthy balance between contributing to the team's sprint success via development tasks and remaining Principal responsibilities.</li> <li> <strong>Cross-team collaboration</strong>: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical deliverables.</li> <li> <strong>Technology evaluation</strong>: Stay current with emerging technologies, evaluate their potential, and advocate for the adoption of new tools, frameworks, and methodologies.</li> <li> <strong>Technical Design</strong>: Take ownership of complex software problems and produce high-quality technical designs which align with business objectives, supporting the development team as necessary to implement the designs successfully.</li> <li> <strong>Risk assessment and mitigation</strong>: Identify technical risks in projects and implement strategies to mitigate them proactively.</li> <li> <strong>Stakeholder communication</strong>: When required, act as a key technical expert, effectively communicating progress, challenges, and solutions to non-technical stakeholders and leadership.</li> </ul><p><br/></p><p><strong>Skills, Qualifications, and Experience</strong></p><ul> <li>Strong experience and knowledge of Microsoft .NET stack &amp; technologies.</li> <li>Proven experience in defining Software Development technical processes based on tooling that supports maximising developer output and quality (e.g. automating code analysis, code reviews, and documentation).</li> <li>Technical mentorship of Software Developers of different experience levels. </li> <li>Building &amp; fostering high performing teams and positive cultures. </li> <li>Solid knowledge of software architecture, frameworks, and design patterns. </li> <li>Preferred experience of CI / CD and test automation including performance testing.</li> <li>Preferred experience of working with Azure Dev Ops, JIRA or equivariant tracking tool.</li> <li>Preferred experience of delivering software into SaaS / Cloud</li> </ul><p><strong><br/></strong></p><p><strong>What's in it for you?</strong></p><ul> <li>Flexible working.</li> <li>Investment in your future career with a variety of learning and development opportunities.</li> <li>No dress code - embrace the freedom to bring your whole self to work.<br/> </li> <li>25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays.
