Ultium Cells, LLC. is a joint venture Lithium-ion automotive battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solution, Ltd., and General Motors. This high-technology plant is a new construction that will have the latest in battery cell manufacturing technology. This $2.3 billion investment will be among the largest battery cell manufacturing plants in the world. Ultium Cells will produce battery cells for GeneralMotors’ North American electric vehicle applications.

Position Description:

The SRP/CESS Operator will follow the battery cell manufacturing process by using the plant’s technology and equipment. An understanding of Anode and Cathode mixing will be used while utilizing the HMI to activate the equipment. Upon an employment offer, Ultium Cells will provide training to all incoming team members.

Job Responsibilities:

•    Understand, demonstrate, and preserve workplace and process safety, PPE requirements, including, but not limited to hazardous materials, equipment and other general workplace requirements.

•    Develop and employ an understanding of solvent recovery and purification process.

•    Develop and employ an understanding of bulk material unloading and storage.

•    Develop and employ an understanding of preventative maintenance and cleaning tasks for environmental equipment.

•    Monitor and troubleshoot the solvent recovery purification process, central electrolyte storage system, and environmental equipment.

•    Set up and monitoring of the solvent recovery process and central electrolyte storage system HMI’s.

•    Load, unload, sample, inspect and preserve necessary chemicals according to department requirements.

•    Operate mobile equipment such as a scissor lift, fork truck, side by side, hand-jack, and other equipment as needed.

•    Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies:

•    Exhibit an understanding of metric weights and measures.

•    Demonstrate basic math and reading comprehension.

•   Must be able to speak and read English

•    Ability to monitor gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure equipment is working properly.

•    Easily demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving, attention to detail, decision making and troubleshooting abilities.

•    Ability to work in a team environment.

•    Ability to demonstrate effective verbal and electronic communication skills, including active listening skills.

•    Basic understanding and experience / comfort level with computers and digital tools including experience using Microsoft Office.

•    Use of PPE including, but not limited to clean room gown, mask, bouffant cap, safety glasses, and protective, substantial footwear.

•    In some instances, some work centers within production will be required to wear PPE including a respirator and gloves.

•    Must be comfortable with heights.
