Warehouse and Material Control Manager

What is the objective of the Material Control and Warehouse Leader role at Sur-Seal?

The Material Control and Warehouse Super is responsible for managing all aspects of receiving, warehouse management, shipping, and production control / cycle counting activities. This position is focused on leading and building a winning team through Sur-Seal’s values and continuous improvement. Leaders in this role will drive improvements in safety, culture, quality, customer service, productivity, cost, and production lead time.

Essential Accountabilities of the Material Control and Warehouse Leader

· Leads, builds, and empowers a team of 3-5 team members, and is capable of backing up each function as required.

· Ensuring the Shipping, Receiving, and Warehouse (SRW) team performs their duties safely by communicating hazards and policies, ensuring adherence to procedures, and continuously improving on processes where they can be made more safe

· Establishing SRW team priorities and quarterly goals

· Creating and communicating clarity and alignment for the SWR team

· Designing roles for the SRW, assigning accountabilities, and delegating final decision authority

· Leading, coaching, hiring, developing, providing feedback, and empowering the SRW team

· Establishing appropriate procedures and controls for SRW team

· Managing and monitoring of the trucking companies that service the facility

· Designing the SRW strategy for inventory slot optimization

· Coordinate pulling/prepping/staging of material for production

· Manage the SRW cycle count process and improving processes to address the root cause of errors

· Designing the SRW strategy for trucking company schedules (in and out), accurate shipping procedures, accurate inventory storage, and accurate receiving procedures

· Designing the strategy for utilizing local 3PL storage facilities, if required

· Optimizing productivity through cross training and continuous improvement

· Communicating the overarching issues and procedures changes with cross functional teams at Sur-Seal to ensure alignment to business goals and priorities

· Develops, implements, clearly communicates, and tracks key metrics that are achievable. Performs root-cause analysis and drives countermeasures. Coaches team members to develop this skill set.

· Completes other duties/projects as assigned by the VP of Global Supply Chain.

Job Qualifications and Required Skills:

· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

· Strong ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast- paced production environment.

· Excellent time management and analytical problem-solving skills.

· Committed to both following and improving processes and procedures to achieve desired results.

· Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience, required

· Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in leading and coaching a team in a manufacturing environment, preferred

· Excellent computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

· Ability to stand and walk for most of a workday and work in a factory/warehouse environment.
