Corebridge Financial Global Legal, Compliance, Regulatory and Government Affairs department is comprised of attorneys and other professionals providing high quality advisory and transactional support with integrity and objectivity across all parts of the organization. About the role

In this challenging and dynamic role, you will report to the Head of Labor & Employment Legal and provide support to the team of employment and compensation and benefits attorneys.  Core responsibilities will include providing support in the management of employment, compensation and benefits advisory matters and legal disputes; ensuring compliance with trending legislative, regulatory and case law developments; conducting research into legal and business matters; designing and advising on various employment training programs and compensation and benefit plans; and providing administrative support as needed.  The L&E Legal team supports all of the Corebridge Financial business units and functions. This position is a hybrid role based in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Providing support in broad range of employment dispute matters, including monitoring activity and deadlines; interfacing with external counsel; arranging/attending witness interviews; managing discovery requests; drafting, issuing and managing preservation notices; processing settlements; and engaging with expert witnesses, eDiscovery providers and other external vendors/parties.  Forums include mediation, arbitration and court proceedings.
  • Preparing timely responses to subpoenas, under attorney supervision.
  • Drafting and revising templates and form letters on a variety of employment, benefits and compensation issues.
  • Updating employee benefit plans and summary plan descriptions, under attorney supervision.
  • Creating, managing, and maintaining databases and/or other files.
  • Recommending and developing process workflows and practices to support the efficiency and effectiveness of the L&E Legal team.
  • Preparing and managing internal reports, including litigation updates and legal contingency reports.
  • Conducting legal research, monitoring legal dockets and tracking/digesting legislative and regulatory updates, under attorney supervision.
  • Overseeing prospective budgeting process for employment and compensation and benefits matters.
  • Coordinating with legal operations in setting up billing files and supporting the review, approval, and payment of law firm and other vendor invoices.
  • Providing administrative support as needed.

What you need to know

  • 5+ years of paralegal experience, including law firm experience, is required. Familiarity with employment, compensation and benefits matters a plus.
  • Self-starter initiative with the ability to meet and exceed deadlines, prioritize, multi-task and remain flexible in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Experience with administrative proceedings and dispute resolution (fact/document gathering, discovery, trial preparation, etc.) is required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (with a focus on Excel) and have the ability and willingness to develop proficiency in new applications and electronic systems.
  • Proven problem-solving skills that demonstrate creativity and commitment to Corebridge Financial’s core values of integrity, collaboration, and diversity of perspective.
