MANDATE
Provides a combination of local market presence, sector expertise, innovative thinking in a team-based approach and world class execution across a full suite of products to clients through an integrated Capital Markets platform using a One Client approach. Collaborates to generate creative, client-focused solutions to prospective and current clients.
As part of our continuing efforts to expand the partnership between the Commercial Bank and Capital Markets, Middle Market Investment Banking Coverage (MMIB) delivers investment banking solutions to and drives opportunities with the Commercial Banking client base. MMIB brings additional, dedicated IB coverage resources to help capture greater Commercial and Investment Banking share and drive One Client revenue across our growing Commercial footprint. The goal is to capture the entire life cycle of a company within BMO and provide strategic coverage and solutions throughout its evolution.

Key Accountabilities
- Participates in deal teams to develop, present, and win mandates for new opportunities
- Creates pitch books for clients with respect to financial solutions and participates in presentations to clients
- Integral to the execution of transactions, solving complex problems using rigorous analytical techniques, leading workstreams and driving deliverables, and regularly presenting to senior executives
- Conducts due diligence (e.g. client visits, business model analysis, and comprehensively reviewing industry trends and related regulations)
- Applies appropriate technical concepts and completes/leads consistent and reliable technical and financial reports/analyses to support client deliverables
- Understands the complexity of transactions and related risk (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, etc.)
- Provides direction and feedback to Analysts; accountable for development and mentoring of Analysts
- Delivers financial modeling to support strategic recommendations to clients
- Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules
- Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include being adaptable to unique situations
- Partner closely with Commercial Bank teams and I&CB industry specialists and product experts to provide holistic client coverage across a broad range of IB products (M&A, ECM, DCM, Leveraged Finance, Private Capital)
- Leverage all parts of BMO by efficiently partnering with Wealth, IB industry and product partners as necessary to deliver the firm
- Assist in identifying and prioritizing top priority clients and prospects (joint, targeted “Focus List” of opportunities) to drive One Client revenue
- Help build the MMIB team to capitalize on the full potential of the opportunity across the growing BMO Commercial footprint
- Help develop and expand internal communication and improve our data, analytics and management reporting mechanisms to keep the One Client mandate a key focus
Qualifications:
- Typically between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- An undergraduate degree with academic coursework in finance, economics, or accounting and an outstanding academic achievement
- 3+ years of investment banking or valuation experience at a financial analyst level
- Knowledge of capital markets, investment banking products and applicable regulations
- Demonstrates solid deal/transaction execution and/or project management skills
- Exceptional skills in quantitative analytics, financial modeling
- Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience

Expected target base salary for this role: $175,000- $225,000.00 USD
