Integrated Care Center (ICC)

• The ICC is a new model involving committed collaboration among clinicians in a team approach including O&P professionals, the patient and other healthcare partners focused on an outcomes-based approach.• The ICC is a large facility equipped with traditional patient care treatment rooms combined with a 10,000 square foot gym location equipped with workout equipment, parallel bars, weights, stairs, ramps, running track, harness system, varying terrain area, climbing wall and golf simulator.• Designed and equipped with resources to treat patients with difficult presentations who have not been able to achieve their goals.

• The ICC draws a community together and utilizes technology to assist connecting patients and clinicians. Improve patient engagement through social programs and unique clinical experiences.

• At the Center, we will promote education and apprenticeship options to share knowledge and to develop the next generation of experts. We will deliver onsite educational opportunities to Hospital and Referral Source Partners and provide regular patient education events.

• We will engage in research to investigate new methods of providing care, create/trial new technologies, and lead the field by implementing new innovations.

 

As a clinical assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting clinical care in Hanger’s first-ever, Integrated Care Center.  You will need to have strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety.  You will also communicate with patients and their families and document their health information in our electronic health record system.  You will work closely with the primary Clinician, technicians and patients to help adjust and repair lower and upper extremity prostheses.  This work environment will be both in the patient care area and in the fabrication lab.  Hand skills and familiarity with hand tools is preferred.  The ideal candidate will have experience with advanced lower extremity prosthetic technology and upper limb prosthetics, including body powered, and externally-powered systems.  Experience and/or interest in additive manufacturing and custom milled silicone fabrication is ideal.  The day-to-day operations of the clinic are crucial for the success of our team, and the clinical assistant optimizes the performance of all processes.

Your Impact

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

    • Under direct supervision, assist primary clinician with patient care.
    • Prepare a room and patient for treatment, make (body double) molds, take 3D scans, perform technical fabrication, and complete administrative tasks.
    • Assist primary clinician with schedule planning.
    • Complete and maintain accurate documentation of patient care provided.
    • Perform selected patient care procedures, including the fitting of replacement prosthetic supplies.
    • Setup and troubleshoot upper limb control harnesses, and programming of externally-powered devices.
    • Liaison with administrative staff to streamline progression of work in progress.
    • Participate in specialized prosthetic fabrication, including; milled silicone, CAD and additive manufacturing.
    • Provide patient follow-up for prosthetic patients under direction of supervising certified clinician.
    • Perform shipping, receiving, and monitor inventory and other clerical tasks.
    • Contact vendors to order prosthetic and orthotic materials.
    • Ensure all patient procedures are performed in alignment with the certifying clinician.Additional Responsibilities:
      • Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work environment.
      • Adhere to all safety regulations; compliance with Medicare and other governmental regulations; compliance with blood borne and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements. 

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Employee must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver’s license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures. 

Preferred Experience:

  • Allied Health Professionals (PTA, OTA, Athletic trainer, etc.)
    • If the Clinical Assistant holds a recognized license or certification in a related allied health profession (e.g., Physical Therapist/PTA, Occupational Therapist/OTA, Athletic Trainer, etc.), they may be supervised under indirect supervision.
  • Orthotic or Soft Goods Fitter
