Senior Accountant
About The Role
Seaport Entertainment is looking for a Senior Accountant based in New York for our rapidly growing company. Reporting to the Director of Accounting and as a key member of the Seaport Accounting team, they will perform various accounting functions for the portfolio, with a focus on our Hospitality and Entertainment businesses.
What You Will Do
General Accounting Operations:
Assist with day-to-day accounting operations.
Analyze G&A expense accounts and prepare accrual journal entries as appropriate.
Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
Bank and Cash Management:
Ensure proper reconciliation of various bank accounts and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
Post daily cash journal entries and ensure accuracy.
Fixed Assets and Prepayments:
Identify, record, and ensure the timely capitalization of fixed assets.
Track prepayments and post amortization entries as needed.
Collaboration and Process Improvement:
Raise accounting issues and coordinate with the accounting team to drive consistency across processes and controls.
Assist the Accounting Manager with 3rd-party-related tasks and entries.
Audit and Reporting:
Assist with year-end audit requests by preparing necessary documentation and analysis.
Handle other ad-hoc assignments as needed.
About You
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Minimum 3 years professional accounting experience.
Knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles.
Experience in supporting Accounting close processes.
Understanding of prepayments and accrued expenses.
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Dynamics or other equivalent ERP system.
Experience managing Balance Sheet reconciliations.
A team player who has the ability to multi-task and is self-directed.
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
Must be deadline focused, organized and exhibit problem-solving skills.
Handle a dynamic work environment with competing priorities.
