Chief Accountant

The challenge

The Chief Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with Romanian accounting standards and company policies. This role is critical for the financial health and stability of Candy Hoover Romania Srl.

What you will do

* Manage and supervise all day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
* Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Romanian accounting principles (RAS) and IFRS.
* Ensure timely and accurate submission of all statutory reports, tax declarations (VAT, corporate tax, etc.), and other financial filings to relevant authorities.
* Develop and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
* Coordinate and manage external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
* Analyze financial data, prepare financial reports, and provide insights to management to support decision-making.
* Oversee budget preparation and monitoring, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
* Manage cash flow, treasury functions, and banking relationships.
* Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations and tax laws in Romania.
 

What you need to succeed

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree or professional accounting certification (e.g., CECCAR, ACCA) is highly preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a Chief Accountant or similar senior accounting role.
* In-depth knowledge of Romanian Accounting Standards (RAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
* Proven experience with tax regulations and declarations in Romania.
* Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in Romanian and English.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
