About the role

Description

The University of Montana invites applications for an Associate Dean for the College of Health. The Associate Dean will play a key role in the college's academic leadership, student support, and organizational administration. You will work closely with the Dean and other faculty/staff members to ensure the college's success in delivering a comprehensive and diverse range of programs and services.

The Associate Dean plays a critical role as a project manager in supporting the accreditation needs and student affairs across the six schools within the college. You will collaborate with the Dean in the development and implementation of academic strategies, recruiting and retaining faculty, staff, undergraduate and graduate students, provide professional development to faculty and staff, monitor accreditation compliance, and serve as the ombudsman for college student affairs. 

 

Responsiblities

  • Collaborate with the Dean in the development, execution, and evaluation of strategic initiatives, strategic plans, and goals to advance the mission and vision of the college
  • Collaborate with the Dean on relevant managerial responsibilities and unit budget operations
  • Provide leadership in creating and revising curricula to ensure relevance and alignment with industry standards and maintain the academic excellence of the college's programs
  • Collaborate with department chairs, discipline leads, and program directors to ensure compliance with all relevant accrediting bodies and government regulations
  • Liaison with University of Montana support offices as needed
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and evaluating faculty and staff
  • Monitor student enrollment, retention, progression, and graduation rates in collaboration with student services
  • Serve as the intermediary between the Department & School Chairpersons and the Dean in student affairs and grievances
  • Foster partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and community leaders to advocate for the college's interests
  • Other duties as assigned

The College offers several professional health degree programs administered through six schools:

  • School of Integrative Physiology and Athletic Training
  • Skaggs School of Pharmacy
  • School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science
  • School of Public & Community Health Sciences
  • School of Social Work
  • School of Speech, Language, Hearing and Occupational Sciences

The College of Health aspires to equip students with a dedication to improving the health and quality of life for Montanans, our nation, and our international community. We aim to expand collaboration with two-year higher education institutions throughout Montana by developing major-specific transfer pathways for students to earn four-year degrees at the College. Qualifications

  • A doctorate or terminal degree in a health-related profession or other relevant discipline
  • Experience working with and leading teams
  • Experience with strategic planning, curriculum review, and development
  • Experience with accreditation and program assessment
  • Experience leading professional development activities
  • Experience mentoring and advising students

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collaborating with faculty, staff, students, and community partners in a healthcare education and research environment
  • Experience at an R1 research university setting (or similar setting) that highly values teaching, research, and service
  • Eight years or more of increasing supervisory experience in an institute of higher ed
