Job Summary

 

The key function of this role is to support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, reporting and administration of APG’s 1500+ lease portfolio. APG’s centralized lease function supports 20+ operating companies and is regarded as the lease subject matter expert. The team offers day-to-day guidance to division controllers, as well as scenario modeling for lease decisions. The lease function is part of the Corporate & Accounting Finance team that also includes consolidation & financial reporting for APG’s results to our parent of all 20+ operating companies, corporate accounting and forecasting, internal controls, and financial system support. There are ample opportunities for growth and exposure within this growing team and company.  CRH, our parent company, is newly listed on the NYSE from the FTSE thus creating an exciting time for APG.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Lease Administration & Accounting (65%):

 

  • Communication with the operating divisions about their lease portfolio – this role offers significant interaction with our 20+ divisions from the staff level to the VP of Finance
  • Accounting for leases: Assist with the monthly journal entries and reconciliations related to the lease portfolio
  • Lease Administration: Ensure Tririga (cloud-based lease platform) is up to date with the current lease portfolio. Review lease contracts, manage the accounting/analysis components of the lease portfolio through lease administration software, including key lease life cycle events, such as extensions, amendments, and terminations
  • Collaborate with the Financial Systems Support team for needed hierarchy updates in Tririga to account for acquired companies, organizational restructuring, and movement of lease data
  • Continuous Process improvement:  Recommend and lead improvements to current processes

 

SOX/Financial Reporting (20%):

 

  • External Reporting:  Prepare quarterly and annual footnote disclosures for asset and lease related disclosures
  • SOX: Adhere to controls and procedures specific to leases for SOX compliance, cover financial reporting, account reconciliations and journal entry processing

 

Analysis (15%):

 

  • Financial Analysis: Explain movement of the financials as it relates to the lease portfolio
  • Scenario Modeling: Provide business partnering, decision support on complex deals, and new business activities. Scenario modeling using Tririga for lease vs. buy decisions and assessing the financial impact of purchase options, existing and/or potential acquisition activity impacting lease portfolio
  • Budget and forecast for lease expense, amortization, and all other property expense line items

 

Education & Work Experience

 

  • Knowledge of lease accounting. Ability to read, interpret lease agreements, identify, and load the key inputs for accounting purposes into lease software
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related discipline
  • 2+ years related work experience in Accounting or Finance (public or private)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Successfully performs month-end close activities
  • Lease administration software, ERP and general ledger accounting experience is a plus
  • CPA a plus
  • Ability to take on other tasks as assigned
