About the role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Trades Supervisor to oversee and manage the activities of the trades team, including electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and other skilled tradespeople. The Trades Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the timely completion of maintenance and repair tasks, maintaining high standards of workmanship, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of various trades, and the ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks effectively.

Hourly Pay Range:  $38.00 - $42.00 US Dollars per hour
The pay listed is the pay range for this position. Any specific offer will vary based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.  You may be eligible to participate in a Company incentive or bonus program.

Essential Functions:

  • Team Management
    • Supervise, train, and manage a team of skilled tradespeople.
    • Schedule and assign tasks and projects, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely completion of work.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and coaching to team members. 
  • Maintenance and Repair
    • Oversee and coordinate the maintenance, repair, and installation activities of the trades team.
    • Ensure all work is performed to high standards of quality and in compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
    • Conduct regular safety training and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to building maintenance and safety.
    • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to protect staff and facility occupants.
    • Conduct regular safety training and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Project Management
    • Manage small to medium-sized maintenance and repair projects from planning to completion.
    • Coordinate with contractors and vendors as necessary to support project activities.
    • Monitor project progress and ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
  • Budget and Inventory Management
    • Assist in managing the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
    • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies, ordering materials as needed to support operations.
    • Monitor and control expenses to stay within budgetary constraints.
  • Coordination and Communication
    • Collaborate with other departments and facility management to coordinate maintenance activities and support facility operations.
    • Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders to address concerns and ensure satisfaction.
    • Prepare and present reports on maintenance activities, progress, and issues to management.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required; degree or certification in a related trade or facilities management preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building maintenance or a skilled trade, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other trades disciplines.
  • Experience with maintenance management software and tools.

Licenses:

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
  • Relevant certifications such as Journeyman or Master Electrician, HVAC Certification, or Plumbing License preferred.

Work Environment

The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
