Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery Per Diem Days

POSITION SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision, provides nursing care for a group of patients assigned to the nurse based on matching the patients’ needs with the nurse’ competencies. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

• Required-Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
• Preferred-Academic bachelor's or master's degree in nursing

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 

• Required-None
• Preferred- Acute care and/or previous clinical nursing experience

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: 

• Currently authorized/licensed to practice in the State
• Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)

if American Red Cross, must obtain American Heart Association within 60-days of hire

• ACLS and NRP must be obtained by the end of the department orientation
• Fetal Monitoring New RN/GNs - Fetal Heart Monitoring Introduction Course within 30-days of hire and
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification within 9 months of hire/transfer
  • Experienced RNs - AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification within 90-days of hire/transfer

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and ABILITIES:

• Demonstrated proficiency and competency in acute care nursing
• Has effective interpersonal and communication skills and ability to serve as a role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing
• Ability to use computer driven patient care equipment
