Purpose

Reporting to the director of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), the assistant director for intercultural programs and initiatives oversees a team responsible for programming and services that support international students and scholars in achieving their social, academic, and professional goals throughout their university careers.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Administrative Management

  • In collaboration with the director, provide a vision for a quality international student and scholar engagement strategy that includes co-curricular initiatives, cultural and social programming, and support activities.
  • Provide collaborative leadership to a team of professional staff members responsible for ISSS programming, outreach, support services, and front desk operations. Recruit, hire, and train staff members, conduct annual performance evaluations, and foster team member’s career growth.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of and provide strategic oversight for intercultural programs and initiatives team. Determine the administrative calendar and plan for the execution of tasks for a smooth workflow.

Programming and Services

  • Oversee ISSS signature programs and activities including but not limited to international orientation, Friendship Program, Language Circles, Global Living Learning Community, and graduating student reception.
  • Manage the development and implementation of innovative programming
