The Opportunity
EXPLO’s weekend trips are some of the most memorable and impactful experiences that students and staff have during the Program. Trips Managers are responsible for all of the logistics and preparation that make these experiences possible. Trips Managers work in a team to plan and organize multiple off-campus field trips each weekend, trips might include visits to museums, amusement parks, kayaking, and much more. At some EXPLO Programs, Trips Managers also coordinate trips during the week for academic courses or in the evenings. Trips Managers assign staff to lead trips, organize trip departure and return, and maintain positive relationships with trip vendors. In addition to the primary job responsibilities, Trips Managers will also perform a variety of other tasks that contribute to the Program's success.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Managing Student Trips
- Plan and organize engaging trips for students during the summer, in coordination with the Office Director and other Office staff, to ensure that weekends run smoothly and students have an incredible experience on trips;
- Oversee all aspects of trips including logistics, meals, buses, itineraries, and day-of trip send off and returns, balancing multiple responsibilities and competing priorities. Depending on the campus, this will include weekend trips, and may include academic trips during the week and evening event trips;
- Communicate with external vendors, including the bus company, college dining, and event or ticket vendors, as needed, to ensure that all aspects of trips run smoothly;
- Collect student’s trip preferences and use EXPLO’s trip assignment software to assign students to trips that they’re interested in for each trips weekend;
- Requisition materials for and schedule locations for on campus student paid workshops to ensure there are a wide variety of weekend offerings;
- Collect feedback from students about trips to inform future trips planning;
- Communicate with caregivers of students as necessary about trips-related questions, concerns and issues;
- Adapt trip plans and creatively problem-solve issues are they arise before, during and after trips depart campus;
Management + Leadership
- Assist the Office Director with running the Office, collaborating with other Managers and Office staff to ensure responsibilities of the Office are fulfilled;
- Supervise, mentor, and train faculty who are leading student trips or work in the the Office, meeting with them to provide feedback;
Campus Operations + Student Life
- Establish systems of communication with the various offices at the program (e.g. Office of Student Life, Office of Teaching + Learning), as well as the students, to communicate information about trips and weekend planning;
- Perform additional Summer Program duties as may be assigned to you.

- EXPLO Junior, for students in grades 4-7 on the campus of Regis College in Weston, MA.
- EXPLO Senior, for students in grades 8-9 on the campus of Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY.
- EXPLO Pre-College, for students in grades 10-12 on the campus of Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA.
