Position Summary
The Program Manager supports operations related to the administration and student affairs of the Weill Cornell/Rockefeller/Sloan Kettering Tri-Institutional MD-PhD Program, a joint program among three elite institutions. Importantly, this role involves community-building within the program and across the three institutions—this is a student facing position. The Program Manager will support the administrative and relational aspects of Recruitment & Admissions, Diversity & Outreach (including the Gateways to the Laboratory Summer Program), Student Affairs, Alumni Affairs, Academic Programming within the MD-PhD Program, Grants Reporting, and Data Management & Outcomes Analyses. In addition, this position will oversee, create, and execute the MD-PhD Program’s communication portfolio and branding. The Program Manager will report to the Program Director and Executive Director of the MD-PhD Program.
This role works closely with all medical education departments within Weill Cornell Medicine, as well as the three graduate schools that make up the MD-PhD Program: Weill Cornell Graduate School, The David Rockefeller Graduate Program, and the Gerstner Sloan Kettering Graduate School.
Job Responsibilities
- Support the MD-PhD Program in: Recruitment & Admissions, Outreach & Diversity Initiatives; Student Relations; Curriculum & Program Coordination; Data Management; Events; Alumni Relations; and Public Relations & Compliance.
- Work with students to create a culture of excellence and inclusiveness; Provide support to student-led groups and initiatives, such as student and alumni panels the House system, and student affinity groups.
- Represent the MD-PhD Program as needed in dealings with internal and external parties, including at recruitment fairs, with peer institutions, and with leadership and administrators from the tri-institutions.
- Oversee progress tracking of all students and ensure that requirements are met in accordance with the policies that govern academic progression; Maintain accurate and detailed records of advisors, graduation rates, and all milestones.
- Develop reports, dashboards, and metrics to monitor performance and seek trends; Oversee reporting to faculty and other schools, departments, the NIH, and other entities as required.
- Support the Program Director and Executive Director in the preparation of the quintennial T32 MSTP grant and annual progress reports.
- Manage the data collection, review, and submission of all surveys and other data collection methods.
- Responsible for student information system(s) and web interface(s) as they pertain to data related functions and services. Responsible for maintaining documents that preserve institutional and programmatic memory.
- Collaborate with IT to ensure reporting requirements are met. Assist in process re-engineering to meet end-state reporting goals.
- Oversee the communication, marketing, and branding portfolio for both the MD-PhD Program and the Gateways to the Laboratory Program.
- Responsible for the short- and long-term strategic brand planning, including management of social media accounts and strategies
- Provide strategic direction to web designers and writers and work collaboratively to upgrade, enhance, and maintain the MD-PhD Program’s website.
- Support the administration and educational activities of the Gateways to the Laboratory Summer Program, including: Recruitment & Admissions; Curriculum; Travel to the Leadership Alliance National Symposium; Mentoring; Alumni Relations; and Outcomes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education
- Master's Degree in a scientific discipline; Individuals with a PhD are encouraged to apply.
Experience
Familiarity with academic/educational/scientific programming and data management.
Experience with web design, Adobe Suite and social media platforms.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent computers skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Basic understanding and history using relational databases.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to interact with multiple constituencie
