Primary Purpose of this Position:

Expedite the delivery of steel, shop drawings, production equipment CNC files, materials and supplies with purchasing, detailing and shop personnel to maximize production through-put and meet production and delivery schedules.

 

Essential Job Functions:


Work with detailing personnel to provide maximum utilization of computer files generated from detailing software for use with CNC shop equipment.  Write, check and revise parts programs for CNC fabrication equipment when required.
Expedite materials ordered for jobs.  On all fabricated steel and other materials to be shipped to the customer directly from DWS, expedite the in-bound delivery to DWS of steel, materials and supplies required for each project with purchasing and shop personnel (the delivery of materials shipped from vendors directly to customers will be coordinated by Purchasing).
Expedite drawings and other shop-required information from Detailing, Project Management and Service Center Sales.  Organize and batch shop drawings received from Detailing for release to the Shop, QA, Purchasing, and subcontractors. 
Resolve obvious errors and missing information on shop drawings before release to the shop.
Create shop releases and generate cutting lists, CNC program files, and other associated information required for fabrication.  Make revisions to shop releases, cutting lists, bills of material, CNC programs, and other information as necessary.  Maintain accurate bill of materials for all jobs.
Input Service Center orders to the computer bill of material and create other shop-required information as necessary for fabrication and shipping.
Work with shop personnel to maximize the utilization of CNC programs for productive and efficient operations of shop equipment.
Schedule and track materials shipped to outside vendors for processing or value-added services such as galvanizers, machine shops, sub-fabricators, etc.
Ensure that changes to shop drawings released for fabrication, “hold” notifications, and other reasons to stop fabrication, are communicated immediately to the appropriate persons.  Responsible for distributing revised shop drawings, revising cutting lists and other production-related documents, and updating and documenting records to create an “audit trail” for revisions made.
Other duties as directed by the Production Office Manager.


 
QualificationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1.   Ability to understand and carry out complicated verbal and written instructions.

2.   Ability to use independent judgment in the analysis of work requirements and the determination of alternative methods to be used within the limits of standard accepted practices.

3.   Ability to work under periodic supervision focused on the progress of work and setting priorities for job completion.

4.   Thorough working knowledge of the fabricating capacities of shop processing equipment.

5.   Good working knowledge of flow of information required to process Contract jobs and Service Center jobs.

6.   Excellent ability to read and interpret shop drawings.

7.   Ability to quickly gain a thorough working knowledge of the DWS computer bill of material system and computer production system.

8.   Good PC computer experience and ability to learn to write parts programs for CNC fabrication equipment.

 

 

Physical Demands:


Stand OCCASIONALLY over the course of the 8 to 12 hour work shift.
Walk OCCASIONALLY over the course of the 8 to 12 hour work shift.  The distances walked will range from a distance of a few feet to several hundred feet.
Sit FREQUENTLY to CONTINUOUSLY over the course of the 8 to 12 hour work shift.
Lift weights up to 30 pounds OCCASIONALLY from floor to head level, which includes the various prints, books, binders, and papers utilized to perform the usual work duties. 
Lift weights up to 50 pounds RARELY to OCCASIONALLY from floor to chest level, which may include boxes of papers, books, etc.
Carry weights noted above distances ranging from a few feet to several hundred feet.  50 pounds would be carried 50 feet.  Lifting devices are available.
Climb OCCASIONALLY onto steps or ladders.
Stoop or crouch OCCASIONALLY while performing the regular job duties.  Tasks would include looking in filing cabinets, removing supplies, and restocking paper in the copier.  The position will be held continuously for a few seconds to a few minutes, depending upon task. 
Kneel OCCASIONALLY in the commission of job duties, depending upon the task.
Crawl OCCASIONALLY up to 10 feet to plug in equipment, retrieve dropped materials, etc.
