Nature and Scope of Position

This position requires someone with high energy and who enjoys constant guest interaction. Your responsibilities include managing a full-service dining room and overseeing all aspects of the restaurant operation. This includes all processes in the kitchen as well as all dining room service. Hours are based on a 52 hour work week, working a variety of shifts. Opportunities for advancement exist throughout our nine franchised locations in Kansas and Iowa. Training includes a six week MIT program to learn all aspects of the Village Inn system.

Essential Functions

  • Increase guest counts and sales by delivering Gold Standard Customer Service
  • Human Resource Management (Training, Developing, Retaining, Supervising, Appraising, Disciplining and Scheduling)
  • Facility Cleanliness/Repair & Maintenance
  • Financial (Profits) Management & Administration
  • Comply with food safety procedures
  • Work with management team to meet sales goals
  • Manage food and labor costs
  • Execute company policies and procedures
  • Monitor food inventory levels
  • Manage and maintain safe working conditions
  • Manage crew member employees
  • Interview and recommend crew members for hiring
  • Provide proper training for crew members
  • Maintain fast, accurate service and provide top-notch customer service to every guest that comes into our restaurant

Skills and Knowledge

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Position will require many hours on your feet, working all positions in the restaurant (host, server, bussing tables, cooking and washing dishes).
  • Must have a good understanding of basic guest service and feel comfortable interacting with the guest on a daily basis.
  • Any FOH or BOH restaurant experience is a plus.
  • The Assistant Manager must have experience in business management and people motivation and must be an excellent communicator.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required, college degree preferred
  • Successful completion of required training, including reading training materials, watching videos, and completing on-the-job checklists and written quizzes.
