Position Summary
The Director of Compost Operations will ensure all aspects of the composting operations are performed in accordance with all local, state, federal and company rules, regulations, and guidelines. The Director of Compost Operations will lead, coach and train employees as well as be physically present through the day in facility.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities, include the following, other duties may be assigned.
Administration:
- Ensure the appropriate Department of Environmental Resources, PA DEP Permit #602247, and PAG-07-3502, requirements are complied with.
- Ensure full implementation of, and adherence with, the A&M Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plan.
- Drive and achieve the principal objective of producing “Exceptional Quality Class A” compost is met through implementation of the plan, professional management, and leadership of the facility.
- Assure the Odor Control Monitoring plan is strictly followed.
- Inspire and maintain good relations with all facility neighbors.
- Confirm proper presentation of the properties and facilities in accordance with the standard of excellence established by the company.
- Enforce a safe and productive workplace in accordance with company standards and OSHA regulations.
- Cultivate a productive administrative office whereby all inbound and outbound customer transactions are handled in accordance with our policy.
- Review and approve of all purchase order requests for the facilities, ensuring all major purchases are reviewed and approved by the appropriate parties prior to submittal.
- Meet/exceed all current corporate budget constraints regarding income and expense for the operation; overall profit/loss, efficiency and effectiveness of composting operations, to include sustaining end-product quality consistently
Operations:
Responsible for adhering to the operational plan established by the company and set forth in our PA DEP permit whereby:
- All elements of the composting process are strictly followed, monitoring each batch and recording times, temperatures, sampling and distribution in the appropriate logs, to ensure PFRP and/or VAR in accordance with EPA 40 CFR 503.33.
- Ensuring proper sampling procedures for finished product are followed and samples are sent to the independent state certification lab for analysis in accordance with the plan.
- Records are kept daily, complied monthly and submitted to the various states in relation to their permit conditions.
- Air monitoring will be accomplished in accordance with the Odor Control Monitoring Plan, and records will be compiled monthly and submitted to quarterly to the DEP in accord
