Summary of Duties:
Washington State University College of Education at WSU Tri-Cities is currently seeking to fill one tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Teaching & Learning. We are seeking applicants with experience and interest in science education. The candidate will have an earned doctorate in science education. Alternatively, the candidate will have an emphasis in science education along with an earned doctorate in a science discipline, learning sciences, or a related field. The candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to scholarly activity. The College of Education seeks applicants with demonstrated knowledge and ability to work effectively with individuals and groups with a variety of identities, cultures, backgrounds, and ideologies in a global environment.
The candidate will conduct scholarly research in science education; pursue external funding to support their research agenda; advise/mentor undergraduate and graduate students; develop and maintain partnerships in STEM education; teach undergraduate elementary science methods courses and graduate science education courses; and engage in service activities at a variety of levels.
Required Qualifications
Earned doctorate in science education or emphasis in science education along with an earned doctorate in a science discipline, learning sciences, educational psychology, or a related field; doctorate completed before date of hire;
Demonstrated scholarly record;
Experience or involvement in writing grant proposals; evidence of plans for or potential to procure and manage large external grants;
Knowledge of and experiences with K-16 science education in either formal or informal contexts;
Experiences and skills for effectively communicating with students and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated record of grant procurement.
Demonstrated ability and experience in one or more of the following areas: quantitative research methods, mixed methods research, learning sciences; educational psychology; science learning; science teaching methods; equity in science education; experience working with under-served/marginalized populations.
Knowledge and ability to engage pre-service teachers in innovative, dialogue-based forms of science pedagogy in the context of authentic science experiences.
Ability and interest in collaborating with existing faculty whose varied interests include: learning interactions, science literacy, STEM learning in informal contexts, science equity, mathematics education, and teacher education.

Annual 9-month Academic Salary: $76,000.00 - $83,000.00
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
