Certified Nurses Aide - Imaging Transporter 1. FTE 11:00am -8:00pm  (Mon - Fri) 

Job Summary:  The Imaging Transporter is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting patients to and from various Imaging departments within the hospital, such as radiology, MRI, and CT scan areas. This role involves ensuring patients are comfortable during transit, assisting with patient positioning as needed, and maintaining communication with Imaging and Nursing staff to coordinate transport times. The Imaging Transporter also helps with the preparation of transport equipment, adheres to safety protocols, and supports the smooth operation of the Imaging department by providing timely and reliable transportation services.

Education Background and Experience

  

Minimum Qualifications:


· High school graduate or GED

· Completion of a Nursing   Assistant program

 

Required Licensure / Certifications:


· Current, unrestricted Washington   State Nursing Assistant license (CNA)

 

Required Experience:


· 1-2 years experience in a   hospital acute care setting

 

Preferred Qualifications:


· Experience with the Cerner   electronic health record system

· Bilingual in English/Spanish

Essential Job Functions

1. Transports patients to and from the Imaging department for emergent or scheduled exams.

2. Assists patients with ambulation as needed, getting out of beds, wheelchairs, or stretchers.

3. Assists technologists in transferring patients to and from the Imaging exam table.

4. Cleans the Imaging exam room after each patient in preparation for the next. 

5. Assists in monitoring supplies within the department and completes accurate restocking according to set PAR levels.

6. Communicates with the patient’s nurse before imaging to ensure readiness.

7. Be familiar with various imaging exam preparations to ensure patients are prepared for their exam (i.e., NPO, full bladder, IV placement, labs in range, etc). 

8. Confirm patients are dressed appropriately for their exam before transporting to the Imaging department, (i.e., changed into gown, jewelry/metal removed, personal items removed from pockets, etc).

9. Assists in answering phones, relaying information to Imaging staff, and pushing urgent images to other facilities.

10. Cares for all types of patients (i.e., neonatal, pediatric, psychiatric, geriatric, orthopedic, medical, surgical, detox, and cardiac).

11. Delivers patient care under the direct supervision of the Imaging Technologist, RN, or LPN.

12. Records and communicates information and any issues to medical staff, nursing staff, and Imaging staff. 

13. Uses personal protection equipment (PPE) correctly and appropriately.

14. Completes assignments on time.

15. Participates in safety, disaster, and fire protection programs.

16. May assist Nursing staff in other clinical areas during Imaging department downtime, and cover breaks for CNAs in other departments as needed. 

17. Covers for absentee staff as appropriate. 

18. Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
