Position Purpose:

The Shred-it Route Driver CDL A is responsible for providing industry leading levels of service to assigned Shred-it locations and their respective transfer stations/accounts, utilizing a Tractor Trailer combination unit or straight truck.   While safely transporting shredded confidential material from a Shred-it location to a transfer location, or to a processing location, all DOT, local and federal laws, rules and regulations must be upheld at all times. Ensuring that customer needs are met on a continual basis for various shredded confidential document pickup and supply delivery is paramount. 

All Company assigned vehicles are equipped with camera telematics which include inside and outside cameras.  In addition, all vehicles are equipped with ELD (electronic logging device) and GPS (global positioning system).

Key Job Activities:

o    Manages assigned routes ensuring customer shredded confidential material is transferred in a safe, timely and accurate manner
o    Provide the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts on a daily basis, communicating any issues to Transportation Manager/Supervisor or Dispatcher for resolution.  This includes, but is not limited to re-routes, adjustments in container sizes, training, etc.  
o    Performs onsite/offsite document destruction of confidential information
o    Performs pre/post-trip checks, and driver check-in on assigned truck, prior to leaving or closing for the day. Reports maintenance issues to Transportation/Dispatcher for follow-up
o    Operates company equipment in a safe and efficient manner in an effort to minimize the risk of injury and equipment damage
o    Complies with all local, state and federal laws governing driver fitness and hours of service.  Complete and maintain DOT logs when applicable
o    Performs onsite/offsite document destruction of confidential information
o    Maintains a high level of security when emptying consoles and/or collection totes by ensuring all documents are retrieved and the consoles/containers are securely locked. Services accounts using a hand-held device, ensuring console/containers are barcoded, locations are up to date, and the accuracy of type and quantity of consoles/containers
o    Manages assigned routes ensuring customers’ confidential material collected and serviced in a timely and accurate manner
o    Handles and responds to all customer problems and inquiries expeditiously and in the best interest of both the customer and Shred-it
o    May require mandatory immunizations and credentialing based on customer requirements. Provide the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts on a daily basis, communicating any issues to Transportation Manager/Supervisor or Dispatcher for resolution.  This includes, but is not limited to re-routes, adjustments in service schedules, training, etc.  
o    Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
 

Education:

Preferred Education: in High School or Equivalent

Experience (North America & LATAM):

  • 1 or more Years of Current Experience, preferably in driving Tractor Trailer GVW 80K lbs. and able to pull a towed weight exceeding 10,000 lbs
  • Stericycle welcomes non-native English speakers, as long as drivers can read and speak English sufficiently to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records as required by federal regulation
