Job Description
This individual is responsible for sourcing strategic suppliers that meet INFICON's standards in Quality, Cost, and Delivery. This commodity manager will lead and manage RFQ’s, negotiations, business awards, and Master Supplier Agreements. The Senior Commodity Manager continually assesses supplier performance and relevance in INFICON’s long term strategy. The Commodity Manager will be forward thinking and understand trends, risks, opportunities, and implement action plans to best position INIFCON’s supply chain.

Job Purpose
The Commodity Manager will report to the Strategic Sourcing Manager. The main responsibility of this role is to define, develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives for the assigned category spend. This individual is responsible for sourcing strategic suppliers that meet INIFICON's standards in Quality, Cost, and Delivery. This commodity manager will lead and manage RFQ’s, negotiations, business awards, and Master Supplier Agreements. The Commodity Manager will continually assess supplier's performance and relevance in INIFICON’s long term strategy. The Commodity Manager will be forward thinking and understand trends, risks, opportunities, and implement action plans to best position INIFCON���s supply chain.
The ideal individual is proactive, results oriented and strives for continuous improvement, experience with lean tools, and has a keen interest in strategic thinking. The ideal candidate should have extensive global sourcing experience in a lean manufacturing environment, leading projects, have the ability to multi-task, meet ambitious targets and goals, and lead execution towards fast results. They will be able to drive and support internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion of all key operational initiatives.
Essential Job Duties include, but not necessarily limited to:
Supplier Management and Development:
- Define and execute best in class multi-year global sourcing and supplier strategies for the category spend tailored for and aligned to manufacturing and new product development requirements to maximize supplier performance, capacity, cost, quality, delivery, and safety
- Responsible for providing expert level knowledge of the category spend supply base, remain knowledgeable surrounding economic and industrial trends that effect the market pricing and capacity
- Exhibit thorough understanding of cost drivers for price increases and opportunities for savings by utilizing should-cost modeling and cost breakdown templates
- Interact daily with functional resources including Engineering, Quality, Planning and Production in Lean Daily Management to ensure all production requirements are met
Senior Commodity Manager specific duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:
- All duties of a Commodity manager
- Provide leadership and guidance to INFICON’s global sourcing colleagues as the Subject Matter Expert in your assigned spend category
- Participate in global sourcing team initiatives
- Lead, own, and drive assigned Key Results identified for INFICON Syracuse
- Lead cost savings projects
- Act as a key team member in cross functional teams dedicated to strategic new product development providing peer-to-peer advice driving supplier selection decisions
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in sourcing, supplier management, supply chain. MBA is a plus but not required.
- Working knowledge of SAP ERP system
- Knowledge of ISO9001 and/or 14001 in a lean manufacturing environment
- Desirable certifications include: Certified Supply Chain Manager (CSCM); and/or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
