The Riverside University Health System's, (RUHS), Medical Center is currently recruiting for an experienced Registered Nurse for the Nurse Support Team - BERT Division.  This is a per diem position.  A Behavioral Emergency Response Team (BERT) Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in providing specialized care for individuals experiencing behavioral or mental health crises.


The Behavioral Emergency Response Team (BERT) is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to provide rapid assessments, crisis intervention, and patient-centered care for individuals experiencing behavioral or mental health emergencies throughout the hospital. This role involves conducting comprehensive risk assessments, de-escalating acute psychiatric situations, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, administering and monitoring psychiatric medications, and ensuring accurate documentation. 


The most competitive candidates will have at least 3 years of Registered Nurse experience in an acute care hospital setting, with experience in a Psychiatric or Emergency Department setting. In addition, candidates should possess strong clinical judgement, effective communication skills, and a dedication to delivering safe, patient-centered care.

Required Certifications:
  • A valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • CPI within 6 months of hire
  • 5150 Certification within 6 months of hire

Work Schedule: 3/12, Night Shift, (6:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.)

8 shifts required in a 6-week period based on the department needs, two of those shifts have to be on the weekend. 

Additional Pertinent Information: 

  • Evening Shift (6:00pm to 11:00pm): $2.50 per hour
  • Night Shift (11:00pm to 7:30am): $5.00 per hour
  • $4.00/hour Critical Care Pay Differential 
  • $4.00/hour Specialty Team Differential

*Specialty Care/Critical Care differentials will be applied following completion of required specialty training, attainment of all necessary certifications, and departmental determination that the employee is authorized to work independently.


Per Diem Rates: 
Registered Nurse II MC/CHC Per Diem: $70.8141 per hour
Registered Nurse III MC/CHC Per Diem: $80.2448 per hour
