Director, Data Services & Advanced Analytics

The Director of Data Services & Advance Analytics will report to the Vice President of Product Development & Innovation and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of data services, database administration, and GIS services for San Manuel. As a member of the IT leadership team, the Director assists in creating the vision and will manage and maintain the technology stack for these functional areas. The Director will collaborate across the enterprise to integrate and manage the overall development process, including its strategy, prioritization, reporting, and delivery using industry-standard tools and practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Provides onsite oversight and direct support of IT, Data Services, Data Administration, and GIS services that fulfill the needs of the business and serve our patrons.
2.    Collaborates with the Vice President to develop and implement architecture and data strategies that support innovations in Data Availability, Security, and Governance.
3.    Works with enterprise teams including directors and executive management to ensure data strategies will support core business and future business initiatives.
4.    Establishes policies and procedures that ensure high-quality data security, reporting, and analytics tools along with robust database performance and troubleshooting.
5.    Works with the IT leadership team to forecast future skill needs to acquire and develop a robust succession plan that includes developing technical abilities as well as leadership and interpersonal skills.
6.    Provides directive in mapping technology, process, and scope of innovation projects to the enterprise technology strategy and ensures that the architecture can support the long-term growth of the enterprise operations.
7.    Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
8.    Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.

 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is required.  

• Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in data management, business intelligence, and related technologies is required. 

• Minimum of seven (7) years supervisory experience required.��

• Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

• Advanced understanding and hands-on experience with Agile Development Processes. 

• Advanced understanding of relational databases and experience with system analysis is required. 

• Experience in the Casino and/or Gaming industry preferred. 

• Must have the ability to analyze and document complex business processes and deliver functional requirements such as data flows, data mapping, etc. 

• Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels of management and technical teams to influence change and facilitate cooperation.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

• At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
