Medior/Senior Model Validator IRRBB, CSRBB & Liquidity Risk
INGAbout the role
Are you looking forward to the next step in your model validation career? Then we have good news… we are hiring!
The team
We are ING’s global Model Validation department responsible for the validation of ING’s IRRBB, CSRBB and Liquidity Risk models, i.e. models used for Asset & Liability Management (ALM). Our scope includes behavioural, hedging, valuation, risk measurement, economic capital, liquidity and stress testing models.
We are an energetic, collaborative international team of around 50 qualified professionals of various backgrounds. We foster a work environment of trust, cooperation, open communications, diversity & inclusion. We work partially at the head office in Amsterdam and partially remotely from home. Our team is part of ING’s global Model Risk Management department, responsible for measuring and managing model risks.
Roles and responsibilities
As a medior / senior validator you assess whether a model is fit for the purposes it was designed for. You base your assessment on business context, academic theories, empirical evidence, regulations, best practices & independent analyses. This covers broadly the following topics:
Assessing fundamental assumptions underlying the design of the model.
Assessing the quality of input data, system implementation and model performance.
Assessing whether models are appropriate given the evolving business, economic and regulatory environment.
Writing high quality validation reports and discuss results with model developers, senior management, auditors and the European Central Bank.
Furthermore, as medior / senior validator, you will:
Contribute to further building the team by sharing knowledge and coaching junior staff.
Be involved in strategic discussions with internal stakeholders within ING’s head office and local risk management departments worldwide.
Have the opportunity to participate in the development of innovative validation frameworks.
Act as a trusted advisor & sparring partner for senior management, e.g. by preparing ad-hoc analyses, providing advice on model risk, or joining the Tribe & Chapter Leads to model approval committees, where you present your work.
Learning and development
We work in an environment where development and continuous learning are important. We offer various internal and external learning programs, and provide various opportunities to advance your career in ING. For example, within Model Validation your next step could be the role of Validation Lead, but you may also take on cross-departmental opportunities. Your Chapter Lead (direct line manager) will support you to work on your personalized individual development plan.
How to succeed
We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.
You have relevant work experience. Knowledge of Asset & Liability Management, IRRBB, CSRBB and/or Liquidity Risk is preferred.
You have quantitative skills (e.g. econometrics, financial modelling, mathematics, statistics, time series analysis).
You have good English writing skills, you are accurate and maintain high quality standards.
You have a ‘take it on, make it happen’ mentality. You step up, take responsibility and take initiative to make things better.
You help others to be successful. You collaborate well with others. You listen, contribute and build trust within the team & with our stakeholders.
You are always a step ahead. You like to bring change, simplify & challenge old ways by equally asking ‘why’ and ‘why not’.
