Job Description Summary

This position is based in the Penn Frontotemporal Degeneration Center (FTDC), part of the Department of Neurology of the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine. The Penn FTDC which is a large translational research center with federally funded (NIH, NIA, etc.), foundation funded, and industry funded clinical and non-clinical research projects, including early phase, complex clinical trials and large federal grants, supporting a robust research program studying patients with rare early-onset neurodegenerative disease.

Job Description

The purpose of this position is to coordinate study activities in patients with early-onset neurodegenerative conditions such as frontotemporal degeneration, primary progressive aphasia, and associated neurodegenerative diseases. The job functions include: Source documentation generation in study startup; Contacting patients and caregivers to schedule research visits, Tracking enrollment progress; Organizing and coordinating research visits; Run the study visit (cognitive testing, MRI, biofluids) per protocol; Biofluid collection, processing, and shipping per protocol; Maintain records of monthly/yearly progress reports, protocols and ICFs tracking and version control in shared drive, Maintain source documentation of study activities, including essential document and correspondence; Invoice study activities, Perform subject reimbursement according to study protocol and verify accuracy; Perform data entry; Performing preliminary cognitive or imaging analyses if applicable. Assist PM in maintaining tools/SOPs to improve workflow. Assist PM in preparing materials for study monitoring. Assist with leading study meetings with faculty and investigators. Learn wide scope of study activities across different protocols to provide patient coverage in addition to their originally assigned ancillary study and serve as a resource to junior staff. 


The position may require communication with patients and staff outside of office hours. Hours are flexible to adapt to protocol requirements, and may include evenings or weekend as necessary. This position will report directly to the FTDC Clinical Research Project Managers, and indirectly to the Clinical Research Program Lead and center Co-Directors.
