About the role

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School in Boston MA, employing physician researchers with expertise in toxicology, public health and population medicine, neurological and psychological emergencies, and geriatric and oncologic emergency medicine.

Successful candidates are expected to pursue an academic career as evidenced by submissions of scholarly work for publication in professional journals and application for grant funding in their specific area of expertise. Under the direction of the Chief of Emergency Medicine, candidates will work closely with Fellowship Directors to prepare to become a leader in Fellowship specific areas academic emergency medicine in by combining didactic and experiential training in educational methods, adult theories of learning, and program administration.  Each fellow will have a customized plan of instruction based on the fellowship curriculum to include didactic elements, teaching opportunities, creation of educational content, and administrative responsibilities.  Candidates will work clinically at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a tertiary medical center with a level 1 trauma center, as well as at one or more affiliated community emergency departments. While our faculty work in multiple locations, all are employed by our practice, Harvard Medical Faculty Physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (HMFP).
