Overview
The Mother Infant Unit consists of 24 beds (between the 3rd and 5th floor of the Dorrance Building). This unit specializes in the care of the post-partum couplet. The care includes frequent assessments for post-partum complications of the mother and newborn including but not limited to preeclampsia, post-partum hemorrhage, and infant hypoglycemia. This unit specializes in offering emotional support to the new dyad while also providing extensive teaching and crucial education prior to discharge.
Short Description
Provides support for the patient care unit. Assumes responsibility for recording keeping, and intra-departmental and interdepartmental communications.Experience Required
Previous hospital experience is preferred.
Additional unit-specification qualification may be required.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
License/Certification Requirements
Unit Secretary Certification is desirable.
