About the role

Cytokinetics is a late-stage, specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing first-in-class muscle activators and next-in-class muscle inhibitors as potential treatments for debilitating diseases in which cardiac muscle performance is compromised. The Training Specialist will develop and deliver training programs to support Cytokinetics clinical development programs, to boost workplace performance and drive professional growth within our organization. This person will be responsible for conducting training needs assessments, designing engaging curriculum and learning materials, and collaborating with various stakeholders to identify training gaps and developing targeted solutions to address them.

This person will also be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and making necessary adjustments to ensure continuous improvement.

To excel in this role, this person will have a strong passion for learning and development, excellent instructional design skills, and the ability to effectively communicate and engage with employees at all levels. Creativity, attention to detail, and organizational abilities will be critical in delivering impactful training initiatives.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain department training completion metrics
  • Map out annual training plans for Clinical Development departments
  • Craft and develop training programs (outsourced and/or in-house)
  • Select appropriate training methods or activities (e.g. simulations, mentoring, on-the-job training, professional development classes) and provide vital information about sessions
  • Conduct annual department-wide training needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed
  • Use known education principles and stay up-to-date on new training methods and techniques
  • Design, prepare and present informational aids and materials
  • Collect feedback from trainers and trainees after training sessions
  • Maintain updated curriculum database and training records
  • Develop or oversee the production of classroom handouts, instructional materials, aids and manuals
  • Revisit and assess learning objectives
  • Research and implement new technologies into instruction
  • Evaluate existing instructional content and keep up to date
  • Develop a cohesive, relevant curriculum by partnering with organization leaders
  • Manage study training and track ongoing progress against training matrices


Qualifications

  • BA/BS with 3+ years’ work experience as a combination of relevant related work experience
  • Prior work experience as a Training Coordinator, Trainer, Training Facilitator, Instructional Designer or similar role
  • Hands-on experience coordinating training events in a corporate setting
  • Knowledge of instructional design theory and learning principles
  • Adequate knowledge of learning management systems and web delivery tools
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with shown successful team participation
  • Demonstrated skill in leading multiple tasks simultaneously, with attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and take care of time demands
  • Ability to appropriately assess prioritization of assigned activities
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and address with solutions-oriented approach
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Proficiency in course development software like Articulate Storyline
  • Basic understanding of HTML and Flash
  • Video editing ability
