Job Title:         Plant Mechanic, 2nd Class                                  Location: WBC

Reports To:     Facilities & Maintenance Manager                      FLSA:      Non-exempt

Department:    Manufacturing and Engineering                          Date:      June 2020

Principle Duties:

  • Ascertain that equipment is running efficiently and producing quality products and packages
  • Repair and maintain any and all equipment and systems as required
  • Perform preventative maintenance on plant & warehouse equipment, machinery, and systems as required
  • Must cooperate with the equipment operators and other plant, warehouse, and maintenance employees
  • Is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the equipment on which he works and the safety of those operating it
  • Prioritize best food safety practices by following all processes and procedures and report any food safety issues to the supervisor or manager
  • Comply with all Wawa GMPs, policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by management
  • Will be required to relieve as the manager deems necessary

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years maintenance experience in a high speed machinery environment (preferably dairy)
  • Previously worked with the principals of mechanical (hydraulic and air) and electrical machines
  • Knowledge in refrigeration machinery / equipment
  • Prior experience of ammonia refrigeration a plus
  • Knowledge of boiler operation and mechanics
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Perform the following physical behaviors repetitively throughout a shift: standing, walking, handling, reaching horizontally, reaching above the shoulder, reaching below waist, grasping firmly, pushing buttons, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, pulling and pushing
  • Push/pull a manual pallet fork truck, up to 1000 ponds and/or ability to operate an electric fork truck
  • Ability to work in cold and damp environments
  • Climb ladders of varying heights and perform various functions while on the ladder
  • Ability to withstand noisy environments
  • Possess and maintain a valid drivers’ license
