BWXT is currently seeking a Project Accounting Analyst for its Erwin, TN location!
The Project Accounting Analyst performs a variety of financial activities including budgeting, forecasting, analysis, cost control, preparation of reports, journal entries, and assists with close processes and reconciliations while ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial results in accordance with US GAAP and company policies.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Monthly Financial Reporting:
- Prepares month-end, quarter-end, and year-end journal entries in compliance with accounting principles.
- Assists in the preparation, analysis, and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Manages labor distributions and timekeeping accuracies for customer projects.
- Performs labor reconciliations for project related costs.
- Manages accounts receivable process, including invoicing and maintaining accurate customer billings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Financial Analysis:
- Conducts variance analysis to compare actual financial results with budgeted/forecasted figures. This includes, but is not limited to, analysis of actual hours vs. loadboard hours on a regular basis to proactively identify issues and the ability to meet project manufacturing commitments.
- Collaborates with cost center managers to develop budgets and forecasts for the current and next two fiscal years.
- Provides ad-hoc financial analysis as required to support business decisions regarding operations.
Account Reconciliation & Compliance:
- Performs monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
- Supports internal SOX compliance and external audit requirements.
- Assists with implementation of new controlling tools and process/procedure improvements as directed.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
- One (1) year of relevant work experience.
- Previous accounting, budgeting, and/or project cost analysis experience.
- Ability to interpret and apply company guidelines, SOX, GAAP, and government regulations.
- Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Proficient skills with Microsoft Office, and SAP or other ERP experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
- MBA or CPA.
