Job Summary
The Graduate Assistant for Campus Recreation will be responsible for the supervision of and assisting in the management of the Campus Recreation program including the Competitive Sports program, Intramural Sports Program, and Campus Wellness Classes. This position is responsible for creating an environment that values and promotes the student experience. The Graduate Assistant will also assist in general Student Involvement duties. This position requires night and weekend supervision of the intramural program.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Schedule facilities for all intramural events
- Manage the Nichols College IMLeagues account
- Schedule all leagues and tournaments in IMLeagues
- Assist with League captains meetings
- Officiating contests as needed
- Creation and distribution of marketing materials for upcoming programs and events
- Oversee the Campus Recreation Instagram account
- Assist with new and creative ideas to market events
- Recruitment and retention of intramural participation
- Assist in the management of the Campus Wellness program
- Serve as main point of contact for group fitness class vendor relations
- Hire, train, and supervise Campus Recreation Work Study students
- Conduct staff and supervisor meetings
- Assist in payroll and budget maintenance
- Coordinate “Sport Shack” co-op program by distributing, tracking and maintaining Campus Recreation equipment
- Maintain knowledge of and adherence to all Nichols College and Student Involvement policies and procedures
- Chaperone events as needed – including evening, late night, and weekends
- Assist with game management of competitive sport program events
- Assist with major Student Involvement initiatives including but not limited to Welcome Week, Family & Friends Weekend, Fest Weeks, Student Life Awards, and other large collaborative campus events
- Assume additional responsibilities as needed
Physical Job Components
- Light to moderate lifting of files, supplies and office materials
- Able to use office and telecommunications equipment
- Walking required; traveling may be expected at times
Preparation, Knowledge and Skills and Abilities
- Must be accepted into and or enrolled in a Nichols College graduate degree program
- Minimum commitment of 2 years
- Ability and desire to communicate and work effectively with students on a daily basis is a must
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organization
